Paediatric Emergency First Aid

The Paediatric Emergency First Aid course is module 1 (day 1) of the 2-day (12 hour) Paediatric First Aid course which complies with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage document for children aged from birth to five. The shorter 1-day course covers those life-saving first aid emergencies which cannot wait for an ambulance; it is suitable for staff in settings where there are also trained Paediatric First Aiders, or where there is not a direct duty of care for children on the premises e.g. at a soft play centre where children are in the care of their parents. It is NOT suitable for lone childminders or key nursery staff who must hold the full Paediatric First Aid qualification.

We recognise that children are not small adults – they have physiological differences and particularly with younger children communication can also be a problem. This course addresses these issues with reference to first aid provision.
Training methods are interactive and hands-on, designed to give participants practical skills to deal with children of all ages in any emergency situation.
