The FAW course is a practical 18 hour course (over a minimum of 3 days) which follows the recommended syllabus by the HSE for larger sized and higher hazard workplaces. Prior to the HSE's changes to First Aid on 1st October 2009, this course was a 4-day course.  Candidates are required to show competency in basic life support, care of an unconscious casualty and treatment of a wounded or injured conscious casualty over the course duration, and evidence of this is logged in an ongoing Assessment Record over the course. Automated External Defibrillator training is now included with this course.
Underwood Training now certificates this course through an Ofqual recognised Awarding Organisation called Training Qualifications UK (TQUK) as since October 2013 the HSE no-longer formally monitors any First Aid courses or standards of training and simply sets the syllabus for what should be covered. For more information on this please contact Helen at the office.
