First Aid Sports Injury Module

This course is designed as an add-on module to the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work course.

It contains additional topics from the longer 3-day First Aid at Work course which are most relevant to sports coaches, P E teachers, Dance professionals and anyone with an interest in sports.

This course is suitable for persons who have some previous first aid training. Please note: to perform the role of a qualifed First Aider this certificate must sit alongside a recognised, in date qualification; it does not on it’s own confer the role of a First Aider.

Course Content

Recognise suspected minor injuries: soft tissue injuries, fractures and dislocations

Identify how to administer first aid for minor injuries using the SALTAPS method

Recognise and know the correct first aid actions for dealing with a suspected injury to the spine and/or pelvis

Recognise and know the correct first aid action for dealing with hypothermia

Recognise and know the correct first aid actions for dealing with hyperthermia

Recognise suspected asthma attack, anaphylaxis and diabetic emergencies

Identify how to provide first aid to a casualty suffering from an asthma attack, anaphylaxis or a diabetic emergency
