First Aid At Work Requalification
The First Aid at Work (FAWR) course is a practical 12-hour course (over a minimum of 2 days) which meets the requirements of the syllabus as laid out in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 (Third edition published October 2013) and which renews the 3-day initial First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification. Candidates will feel confident in dealing with emergency situations whilst awaiting an ambulance, understand the impact of relevant legislation and in addition will be able to provide first aid for a range of injuries and common medical conditions, and know when and where to refer casualties to when necessary.
Like the FAW course, this qualification lasts for 3 years, after which currently a 2-day FAWR course can currently be taken if this is within the HSE’s permitted expiry window; if this window is exceeded then the initial 3-day course must be taken. See below for pre-requisites.

Temperature regulation - Hypothermia/ Hyperthermia
Common medical problems – including angina/conscious heart attack, asthma, hyperventilation, diabetes, epilepsy (seizures), fainting, anaphylaxis and stroke
