Level 3 Supervising First Aid for Mental Health
This 2-day qualification provides the most comprehensive training, and someone with this level of training may be expected to co-ordinate and support the mental health first aiders in the workplace and to be active in formulating policies around mental health in the workplace in additon to carrying out the role of First Aider for Mental Health. They may also be active in liaising with management to risk assess and enact change within the workplace to facilitate a positive mental health culture.
This qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a wider range of mental health conditions and learn about the support/therapy provided by professional healthcare providers. They will know how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help.
Learners will recognise and manage stress and understand the impact of substance abuse. Learners will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health, be able to put it in place and understand how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.
Learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals but will gain the knowledge to identify when a person may have a condition and know where they can go to get help.
Recommended for: Managers, supervisors, lead first aiders (physical) and anyone wanting to gain a more in-depth understanding of mental health and wellbeing.

Understand stigma surrounding mental health
Know how to provide practical support for a person presenting with a mental health condition

Know how to recognise the following mental health disorders: Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Self-harm, Suicide, Eating disorders, Personality disorders, Bipolar, Psychosis, Schizophrenia
Know the support/therapy for the above mental health disorders that healthcare professionals can provide
