Children are not small adults and our range of courses for those working with children recognise this fact. The Paediatric and Paediatric Emergency First Aid courses cover CPR for children and infants.
The Paediatric First Aid course complies with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage legislation pertaining to children aged from birth to five years old. However, the content is suitable for anyone working with older children as the definition of ‘child’ for the purposes of CPR is from birth to age 18, so this is most definately the first aid course that we would recommend for anyone working in a primary school setting who is primarily a first aider for the needs of the children at the school.
Note: Schools and nurseries are work-places for adults and so our adult first aid courses may also be suitable for you in terms of covering the needs of your staff, any volunteers and adult visitors to your premises, or contact us to ask for more information concerning the ‘Adult Visitor Module’ which can be added for persons attending open courses at our training premises (sorry – we can’t logistically fit any addtional manikins in our vehicle to make this available at clients’ premises!).
For schools – our Lunchtime Supervisor First Aid course is an excellent way to enable key staff to support your First Aiders by dealing with minor injuries and, if necessary, by commencing first aid action whilst sending for a qualified First Aider.
For Parents and anyone who assists in looking after younger children, our First Aid for Parents course may be just what you are needing – major emphasis on practical every-day first aid.
Children are not small adults – they have physiological differences and particularly with younger children communication can also be a problem. This course addresses these issues with reference to first aid provision and is EYFS compliant.
